Cricket is a team sport played between two teams of eleven. Cricket is known for its rich terminology. Some terms are often thought to be arcane and humorous by those not familiar with the game.
The game is all set to scale new heights with shorter version of the game, the Twenty20 format, which has given the opinion that would attract a bigger and more diverse kind of audience.
Across The Line:
Across the line (of batting shot) in which the bat swings across the path of the ball, rather than along it. Risky, since it requires expert timing to make good contact.
Arm ball:
A finger-spinner's delivery bowled without spin, in the hope of deceiving the batsman into allowing for turn that does not come.

More
Front Foot:
In a batsman's stance the front foot is the foot that is nearer to the bowler. A bowler's front foot is the last foot to contact the ground before the ball is released.
Glance:
The shot played very fine behind the batsman on the leg side. A glance is typically played on a short-pitched ball.

More
Leg-bye:
When the ball deflects off the pad and the batsmen run. A shot must be offered to the ball. Leg-byes do not count against the bowler.
Nelson:
The English superstition that 111 and its multiples are unlucky. The sticks resemble 111, and is loosely connected with Lord Nelson's physical attributes. Double Nelson is 222.

More
Rain Rule:
Any of various methods of determining which team wins a rain-shortened one-day match. The current preferred method is the Duckworth-Lewis method.
Splice:
The joint between the handle and the blade of a bat; the weakest part of the bat. If the ball hits the splice it is likely to dolly up for an easy catch.

More
Walking wicket:
A very poor batsman, particularly tail-end batsmen, who are usually specialist bowlers. Statistically, any batsman averaging under 5.
Yorker:
A (usually fast) delivery that is pitched very close to the batsman. The intent is for it to bounce exactly underneath his bat or on his toes, in the block hole.
